Week 4/5 Update
Hi families
Sorry that Room 15's blog has been hard to view lately. Hopefully all is resolved now, please let me know if you come across any more troubles.
This week was a fabulous week of MATHS. You would have seen your child's result of their math week challenge come home on Friday afternoon. Please remember that all donations for the math-a-thon are due by 27 August. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Looking ahead to next week...

Rimu trip to the Zoo!
We got to travel to the Zoo on a double decker bus!!!!
We explored the Zoo and we had a great classroom session with Kirsty. She taught us about insects!
We had so much fun at the Bug Lab!
We headed back to school with great stories to tell. Thank you SO much to our parent helpers Fiona (Louie's Mum) and Margaret (Lokkie's Mum). You were amazing.
After the trip we did some follow up learning. Enjoy Deema's recount and Louie's art work below.
Deema's writing. We are learning to write recounts.

Welcome back to TERM 3!
Here are some photos of our first week back at school.
These photo shows Alex learning about even and odd numbers. Did you know that even numbers have a partner, and odd numbers don't have a partner? We used the counters to figure out which numbers have partners and which ones do not.
This photo shows Safiyye, Dotty and Lokkie using their imaginations during play based learning. They built a tent using a parachute and chairs.
On Friday, we started a new activity called problem solving. We will do it every Friday with our problem solving groups. Today we learnt that there a 4 key steps to problem solving.
1. Read the question and circle the important information
2. Discuss different ways to solve the problem e.g. using counters, drawing a picture
3. Have a go at solving the problem with your group
4. Share your thinking with other groups
Mrs O'Shea was so proud of our first attempt at problem solving. Here are some photos of us in action!
Remember - Our Zoo trip is next week on Wednesday 1 August. Children will need to bring a healthy lunch and snacks, a drink bottle filled with water only, a rain jacket and comfortable shoes for walking. We are looking forward to a very fun day!
