Beach Education Trip

We had an amazing time at Mairangi Bay for our Beach Education Trip. During the day we learnt about the role of a lifeguard, how to be sun smart and how to keep ourselves safe in and around the water. We played beach games and in the afternoon we GOT IN THE WATER!!! It was pretty chilly but that didn't stop us boogie boarding in the waves, duck diving and learning to run through the water. Thank you to the Mairangi Bay Lifeguards for giving us a great experience.

Cultural Festival 2015

Our very exciting moment finally arrived!!!!

The day we have been waiting for arrived!!! These photos show us enjoying the letters from our buddies in Indonesia! It was so interesting to read about how their lives are similar and different to ours. They also sent us one of their favourite snacks - fruit chips. At first we weren't sure if we would like them but most of us ended up really enjoying a different type of snack than we are used to. Please come into our class if you would like to have a closer look at the letters and pictures!

We are so excited!

This week we got some really exciting news... Our letters and word finds made it to our buddy school in Indonesia! These photos show our buddies reading their letters and writing their responses to us.  We love having friends in other countries!  Now we will wait with anticipation for our package in the mail...!!!!!

Super star writers!

We have worked hard to write WOW SENTENCES. Our sentences include a simile and they start with words other than 'the' or 'I'. The inspiration for this writing was found when we went out to the school field and stayed completely silent for 1 minute and just listened to the sounds around us. Enjoy!

Problem Solving Superstars!

Throughout the year Room 25 has worked through a variety of challenging problem solving questions.  We love problem solving because it helps us to see how we can use maths in real life! Check out LJ's work - He has shown his working out by using a table, he used division facts as another strategy and he has also counted out $23.00 using coins and counters.

Here is a challenge for  you.... If you and your friends had $51.00 how far could you travel? (The charges are still the same as the original question)

Our adventure around the world!

This term, we have been enthusiastically learning about how we are connected to our world. We are similar and different to children in other countries and we have found this really interesting! To celebrate our learning we had a surprise in Room 25 - An adventure around the world!!! Our classroom turned into a plane, and we had a customs office to allow us entry into different countries. On our trip we visited Africa, Sweden, Samoa, Japan, America, Mexico, India and London.  We have plenty of stories to tell and hope that these photos give you an idea of the fun we had.
